PUBLIC NOTICE – UNORGANIZED TERRITORIES (UT) INFORMATIONAL PRESENTATION
 

The Franklin County Commissioners invite residents and property owners within Franklin County’s Unorganized Territories (UT) to attend the Commissioners’ Meeting on:

Tuesday, September 1, 2026 10:00 a.m.
 

Harold Jones, Fiscal Administrator for the Unorganized Territories, will attend the meeting to provide an overview of the UT and discuss several important topics, including:


 Development of the annual UT budget
 The process used to determine UT tax assessments
 The County’s role and responsibilities in administering the UT
 The administration and funding of services provided within the UT

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about how the Unorganized Territories are administered, how the annual budget is developed, and how tax assessments and
services are determined and funded.

Anyone who lives or owns property within Franklin County’s Unorganized Territories is strongly encouraged to attend.
We hope you will join us for this informative discussion and take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about matters that directly affect UT residents and property owners.

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast to Benefit Weld Recreation

Join us for a community pancake breakfast on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 7:00–9:00 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge on the second floor of the Town Hall.

Breakfast will include plain or blueberry pancakes, bacon or sausage, coffee, juice or water, and real local maple syrup. A donation of $8 is suggested.

All proceeds will benefit the Weld Recreation Committee.

School Supply Drive

Weld Recreation School Supply Drive

The Weld Recreation Committee is collecting new school supplies and unopened, nonperishable snacks to help families in our community prepare for the upcoming school year.

Donations may be dropped off by Friday, August 14 at the Town Office, Library, or Schoolhouse Variety.

Supplies will be distributed on Sunday, August 16, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room. Anyone planning to pick up supplies is asked to contact the committee in advance so enough items are available.

Paint Class

Join Us for a Free Paint Class!

Weld Recreation will host a free, all-ages paint class on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 1:00–3:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

Participants will create an 11" x 14" rainbow trout canvas painting with step-by-step instruction provided. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.

Raven Run

Mark your calendars—the Raven Run is back!

Join us on Saturday, August 8, 2026, for a new wheel-measured 5K course along Route 142 in Weld. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Weld Town Hall, 17 School Street, and the race starts at 9:00 a.m. at 1 School Street.

Candidate Interviews

July 9, 2026

On June 29, 2026, Dina Walker participated in an all-day interview process with Maine’s three gubernatorial candidates: Rick Bennett, Robert Charles, and Hannah Pingree.

She attended as a member of the Maine Municipal Association Executive Committee, representing the Town of Weld. Each candidate was asked the same set of questions regarding issues important to municipalities across Maine.

Transfer Station Free Days!

Transfer Station Free Days!
 
June 28th, July 1st, and July 5th 
 
Normal fees will be waived to drop off tires
or bulky materials at the transfer station.
 
A limit of:
 Four tires
 200 lbs of bulky waste
and one oversize item such as a mattress or couch
 does apply to ensure we can accommodate the expected volume of materials.
