Franklin County Sheriff's Elder Check Program

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Elder Check Program is a voluntary service that provides regular wellness visits to older residents, especially those living alone. Deputies check on participants’ safety, health, and living conditions while also offering social interaction and connecting them with resources if needed. The program helps reduce isolation, prevent exploitation, and ensure seniors remain safe and supported in their homes.

2026 Dog License Reminder and Information

The State of Maine requires that dogs be licensed in the town of residence of the owner. Dog licenses expire on December 31st of each year.  New or renewed registration must occur at the Weld Town Office (23 Mill Street, Weld) prior to January 31st of the year or an additional late fee of $25 will be imposed.
