Fire Permit Information

Residents and visitors may request an open burning permit online through the State of Maine’s website. However, the Weld Fire and Rescue Department prefers that fire permits be obtained locally at Skoolhouse Variety through Kevin Cochran.

Applying locally helps ensure that current conditions in the Weld area are carefully considered before a permit is issued. Kevin has a better understanding of local weather, wind conditions, and fire danger in our community. In addition, obtaining your permit locally helps the Fire and Rescue Department know where permitted burns are taking place, which is important in the event that a fire gets out of control and assistance is needed.
