April 9, 2026

🧾

  • How it works:
Sheriff’s deputies make regular (typically weekly) visits to participants’ homes.
  • Who it serves:
Primarily seniors living alone, often in rural areas without close family or local police departments.
  • What deputies check for:
    • Physical health and general well-being
    • Adequate food and safe living conditions
    • Heat and safety during winter
    • Signs of scams, abuse, or neglect
    • Medication safety and home security
  • Additional benefits:
    • Provides social interaction and companionship
    • Connects residents with services or assistance if needed
    • Helps prevent exploitation or isolation

In short:

It’s a free, proactive wellness check program where deputies regularly visit elderly residents to keep them safe, supported, and connected to their community.
