OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS - 2026 Town of Weld Free State Park Passes Program

OPEN FOR APPLICATION - 2026 Free State Park Pass Program (Designated Passes)

DEADLINE: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2025

The Town is now accepting applications for Designated Passes. If you would like to apply for a Designated Pass, please send your request by email to weldrecreation@weld-maine.org, Subject: "State Park Season Pass Program" with the following statement or information (a "Request"):

  1. Your full name, address, phone number and/or email address. 
  2. "I am a property taxpayer to the Town of Weld."
  3. "I confirm that no other member of my household is applying for the Designated Pass." 
  4. "I agree to use this Designated Pass only for personal use for myself and/or my family in accordance with applicable Maine state park rules and regulations as issued by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands, and shall not sell or transfer this Designated Pass." 

Please submit your Request by Friday, September 12, 2025, to be eligible for consideration. The Town will contact you regarding your Request by Monday, September 29, 2025.

If the Town receives more Requests than the number of Designated Passes available, a random lottery will be conducted by the Town at 9AM, Monday, September 15, 2025, in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Town Office, and the recipients will be contacted. 

Background: At a Town Meeting held on March 25, 2025, the Town of Weld ("Town") accepted an annual donation in the amount of $5,000 from the George & Raymond Frank Foundation (Camp Kawanhee), a tax-exempt public charity organization, as a Payment in Lieu of Taxes to be used to purchase annual vehicle season passes to the Maine State Parks (each, a "Pass") for the benefit of the property taxpayers of the Town ( the "Public") (the "Donation"). 

According to the Free State Park Passes Policy the Town's Select Board adopted on May 27, 2025, five (5) Passes for the 2026 season will be available at SkoolHouse Variety (32 School Street, Weld) to be signed out by members of the Public for 3-Day uses (each, a "Sign-Out Pass").  The remaining Passes provided by the Donation are available to the Public by application for the entire 2026 Season (each a "Designated Pass"). You can view a copy of the State Park Season Pass Policy here.
