SESSION 5-Municipal Workforce Education and Training

Municipal officials and employees across Maine are facing increasing demands—and training and education is more critical than ever in keeping up. This session will explore and highlight the ways that MMA is partnering to provide accessible, affordable, and impactful training and education for municipal staff at all levels. We will guide you through the resources and partnerships available through MMA, affiliate associations, and educational institutions across the state to help you identify opportunities to upskill your team, support career advancement, and meet the evolving needs of your community—all without straining your budget.
We’ll highlight two key partnerships:
The Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce – Learn how the Maine Workforce Development Compact can help your municipality access grant funding and tuition discounts for short-term training and courses designed to build critical skills.
University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) – Discover flexible learning options and tuition discounts available to municipal officials, employees, and volunteers across UMA’s diverse program offerings.
Join us to gain practical insights and actionable strategies to support the development of your municipality’s greatest assets – the people!
We hope to see you at this FREE members-only event! Please note that this will be held as an interactive Zoom meeting. Video and audio functionality and participation is encouraged.
Registrants will receive their Zoom link and meeting details directly from MMA Zoom no later than 24 hours in advance. An official workshop confirmation from MMA will follow with further instructions and access to meeting materials.

Join us for this session in MMA's new FREE bi-monthly Lunch & Learn series, designed to give members the chance to engage with MMA staff and one another on timely and relevant topics throughout the course of the year. The sessions, held via Zoom, will rotate topics and give the opportunity to engage in conversation and connect over the ways that MMA staff can support you.
